With the advent of real spring weather (finally) the minds, hearts and bodies of Kendal's tennis players are ready to get back on the court. Kendal residents can use the beautiful red clay court that belongs to Phelps Hospital.

Those interested should get their rackets and shorts out of the closet and get in touch with Wayne Richter who will provide you with all the particulars.

Borsari.png

This Wednesday, May 9 at 7:30 pm Kendal will have a special education event when we will be privileged to hear Christopher Borsari, Superintendent of the Tarrytown Union Free School District. Superintendent Borsari will address Kendal residents about the proposed 2018-19 school budget.  The vote is Tuesday May 15.

This is an important event that has impact and meaning for all of us.

The Education Committee, which is sponsoring this event, encourages all residents to attend.

Transportation

Transportation.png

The Transportation Committee wants you to know that the latest pickup time from doctors' offices or the train station is 4:30 pm. If you cannot make that time you will have to arrange for alternative transportation.

It is suggested that to ensure a ride back to Kendal you make your appointments no later than 3:00 pm., earlier if possible.

During the spring and summer months there is road construction plus heavier traffic which may result in longer waits for pickups. Patience is requested. Our drivers make every effort to make wait times as short as possible.

Saving the Rabbits of Ravensbruck

"Saving the Rabbits of Ravensbruck," a special movie, will be shown at Kendal on Monday, May 7 at 7:30 pm.

This outstanding movie tells the story of how an international group in the largest women's concentration camp in the Third Reich came together, both during the war and years later, to help save 63 young Catholic Polish women who were known as the Rabbits. Maimed by horrific Nazi medical experiments, these women were slated for execution. Their rescue is a heart-warming story.

You will not want to miss this extraordinary event.

Great Decisions Program

On Monday, May 7 the final 2018 session of the Great Decisions Program will be held in the Gathering Room at 10 am.

The topic will be Global Health: Progress and Challenges.

This final session will have added importance as John Sorice, the Program's leader, will chair a discussion on its 2019 future. Input from all those who have participated this year will be welcome and important.

Questions should be directed to John.

New Trips

Trips.jpg

Not surprisingly, the Trips Committee has two great new excursions planned.

For Wednesday,  May 30, the Lasdon Park & Arboretum in Somers is set for a Kendal visit. LPA features a 30-acre formal azalea garden, magnolias, lilacs, a rare American chestnut grove and a Chinese garden with cherry trees, butterfly bushes, tropical rainforest plants, a cave and waterfalls. Wow!

On June 6 a group will head to the Museum of Natural History, Rose Center for Earth & Space in NYC. Details are in the May 7 Spotlight

Both sound great! Sign up in the Activities Alcove. You won't be sorry!

Space may still be available for the May 16 trip to Teatown Lake Reservation and the May 23 trip to the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

Finding the Website's Table of Contents

Table of Contents.jpg

You have already managed to enter the Residents Website (Congrats!).

If you want to see what else there is to see (and read) the best way is to go to the "Table of Contents". Here's how to find it.

1. If there is no navigation bar with titles in it across the top of your screen, click on the three parallel lines in the upper right-hand corner of the Home Page (the page that, hopefully, you're on).
2. A list of key pages will drop down along the righthand side of your screen.
3. Anything with a + next to it has subheadings underneath.
4. Scroll down to see all the items under INFO.

If you've gotten that far you are now licensed to apply for an IT job with any major corporation. (Double Congrats!)
