New Trip

Cold Spring.png

The Trips Committee announced an exciting new excursion. This one is Wednesday, June 12, and will take participants to both Garrison and Cold Spring.

The trip members will explore two riverside villages in the Hudson Highlands: Garrison Landing historical district, with its wooden houses and commercial structures dating to the 1850s and a splendid view of West Point; a walking tour of Cold Spring’s charming village’s shops, antique stores and art galleries and, after lunch, a drive through its well-preserved 19th-century historical district to Dockside Park with dramatic views of the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain.

Sign-up for the trip is, as usual, in the Trips Book located in the Activities Alcove.

Staff Appreciation Fund Drive

Staff Appreciation 4.png

Twice a year, residents have an opportunity to thank the staff in a tangible way for all they have done to make our lives better and more comfortable. Since there is no tipping at Kendal, we have the Staff Appreciation Fund in its place.

If you haven't contributed, please do so as soon as possible. If you have already done so, many thanks!

Checks should be made out to KoH Residents Association, with Staff Appreciation noted on the memo line, and deposited in the collection box located at the Front Desk in the Mary Powell Building. Questions? Please speak to Marilyn Bottjer or Gene DuBow.

Mother's Day Program

Mothers day 1.jpg

As promised, we have some more news regarding the Mother’s Day program.

Larry O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin (son and daughter-in-law of Deborah O'Keefe) take a break from Broadway to spend Mother's Day performing on their favorite stage, Kendal on Hudson.

They're bringing some of their favorite Broadway singers to celebrate spring and mothers everywhere.  There will be some Nell and Larry songs, some Broadway classics, some songs about Moms, and some special surprises.

It’s in the Gathering Room at 3 pm Sunday, May 12!

Don’t miss it!

Mother's Day Program

Mother.jpg

Kendal is planning to have some exciting entertainment on Mother’s Day.

On Sunday, May 12 at 3:00 pm Deborah O’Keefe’s son and friends will grace the Gathering Room stage with a special “Salute to Mom” musical program.

This group of young Broadway and Off-Broadway performers have thrilled us previously with their singing and acting. It was fabulous! We expect more of the same on May 12.

There will be more information about the program coming soon. Keep watching the website.

Horticulture Committee Trip

Horticulture4.jpg

Here’s something different. You always thought the Horticulture Committee folks only dug and planted. Well, they are now expanding their activities and are planning an excursion.

They will have a trip to the Westchester Greenhouse in Hartsdale on Tuesday, May 14 for residents who wish to purchase plants for their balcony/terrace.

The bus can take 12 people and will leave the main entrance at 9:45 am and return by 11:45 am. A sign-up sheet will be on a clipboard in the Activities Alcove across from the Resident Computer Room for those who want to come along.

Any questions? Contact Anna Mae O’Leary or Peter Limberg. .

Give & Take Table

The Give And Take Table will be available from May 1 through May 8 on the T level of the Mary Powell Building.

Please, no shoes, sharp objects, or fabrics. Let Bert Pepper know if you have valuables to put out.

Yet again, the ever-active Trips Committee is planning a new trip-- this one in June.

On Wednesday June 5, the Committee is planning a “New York City Do Your Own Thing” excursion with drop-off at the Met Museum. Participants can go to the Met or wherever they wish. They can meet friends for lunch, visit museums and galleries or shop.

Sign-up is on a first-come, first-served basis. One-way trips not allowed.

In addition there is space available for the Wednesday, May 15 trip to Union Church and Stone Barns, Pocantico Hills and a short wait list for the Wednesday May 8 trip to the Untermyer Gardens, Yonkers.

Sign up for all trips are to be made in the Trips Book located in the Activities Alcove.

New Trip

Union Church Pocantico Hills.jpg

The always active Trips Committee recently announced a new trip, this one on Wed., May 15 to the Union Church and Stone Barns in nearby Pocantico Hills.

An afternoon tour of this small country stone church, renowned for its stained-glass rose window by Matisse and nine stained-glass windows by Chagall, commissioned by the Rockefellers in memory of family members, will give the participants something unusual to behold.

The Committee notes that the aisle of the church is too narrow for wheelchairs. Please take that into consideration when signing up.

The trip will include a stop at Stone Barns for refreshments at Blue Hill Café and a look at the Farm Store for gifts or seasonal produce.

Sign-up as usual will be in the Trips Book located in the Activities Alcove.
