CAFA Committee Needs Your Help

Is the artwork you hung in the halls labeled with your name? If it isn’t, it may become the property of the KOH Residents Association.

So please Label all pieces (you can put a return address label on the back or base). Questions? Call Barbara Bettigole or Marilyn Bottjer.

Resident Patient and Bereavement System

We are experiencing some difficulties with this message system.  For the time being, we will NOT be able to provide service on extension 3333.

We do call your attention to the fact that when any changes in residents’ health take place, a written notice is posted on the bulletin board on Main Street in Mary Powell. It is the notice with the red telephone.

We will keep you posted should the telephone extension system become available again. Management apologizes for any inconvenience.

Give & Take Table

Give and take 7.png

The Give & Take Table will reappear on T level near the Residents Care Center on Tuesday, June 1 at 8:00 am and will be extinguished at 5:00 pm on Monday, June 7.

Residents can bring their pre-owned and new treasures for the benefit of all, but please no clothing, shoes, sharp items, or food.

Bulletin Board Guidelines

Bulletin Board.png

A sign of our “new normal” is the clutter of notices on our bulletin boards.

Some important reminders:

  • Residents may place short-term personal notices ONLY on the board in the Activities Alcove.

  • To allow room for all, half-page notices are preferred where possible; trim excess “white space.”

  • Notices should be posted no earlier than 14 days before an event, kept for a maximum of 14 days, and removed by the responsible committee or individual 24 hours after the event has passed.

Everyone’s cooperation will be appreciated.

Shredding Event Notice

Shredd5.jpg

KoH will be collecting any documents you wish to shred for a mass off-site purge.

Materials will be collected in Unit #110l, just off the Main Lobby in Adirondack, starting on Tuesday, June 1.

Hours: 9 am – 11 am and 1 pm – 3 pm.

All materials must be dropped off by Tuesday, June 8 at 3 pm and must be in a box or bag.

A Movie Surprise!

Surpr ise.png

We are on the cusp of experiencing something new from the Movie Committee. They are not saying exactly what it will be. However, we do know…

It will be “A Sunday Afternoon At The Movies” (everything but the popcorn) June 6 at 3:00 in the Gathering Room (GR).

Sign up on June 1 in the Activities Alcove (across from the Computer Room).

The current capacity of the GR is 40; if it increases, we will notify people on the Wait List. We will also consider the possibility of another showing on a future Sunday afternoon.

This film will not be shown on Channel 970.

Depending on interest, we will consider showing other Sunday afternoon movies in the future.

Our guess is that many residents want to be surprised, so our advice is to sign up ASAP.

Jazz On The Terrace

Jazz2.jpg

On Sunday, June 13 – from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm - Kendal will host the first of 6 concerts featuring Mark Morganelli and the Jazz Forum All-Stars, which will take place on the Terrace.

A sign-up book will be available in the Activities Alcove starting Saturday morning, June 5.

Please sign up for one of the 35 folding chairs under the tent. There will be additional seating available around the periphery.  Depending on the response, a decision will be made regarding the issuance of tickets.

Caution:  The Terrace can be hot in the summer; attendees should bring their own water for hydration.  In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Gathering Room.

Covid-19 Update

Covidvirus update.jpg

On May 19, the following directive was received from Kendal Management:

Considering Governor Cuomo’s changes to COVID-related restrictions in New York, Kendal on Hudson will be making the following changes to protocols:

Effective immediately, masks are optional for Independent Living Residents throughout the community, based on personal comfort level.

Visitors to Independent Living should continue to wear masks until further notice.

Masks will still be required:

• In the Resident Care Center

• In the Outpatient Therapy Gym on the Terrace Level

• In the Fitness Center

• For all visitors to Sunnyside, Adirondack and Clearwater

All staff will continue to wear masks until further notice.

At this time, the capacity limits of all common-use rooms will remain the same while the Infection Control Team evaluates the latest guidance and makes thoughtful decisions regarding the use of space. We anticipate releasing this information sometime during the first week of June.

TENNIS ON A TABLE

He is wildly popular and is now here at Kendal every Thursday.

If you are a beginner or would like to improve your ping-pong game, stop in for a look Thursdays in the Hudson Room.

For information on lessons, contact Wayne Richter.
