On Monday, May 27, Kendal will celebrate Memorial Day with its traditional midday meal picnic-style of hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.
During the day, as usual on this holiday weekend, Kendal will welcome many sons, daughters, grandchildren plus other friends and relatives. The feeling is always festive.
However, to commemorate the seriousness of the holiday, a special award-winning documentary movie They Shall Not Grow Old (2018, 99 min.) will be shown in the Gathering Room at 7:30 pm.
It has been described “Using state-of-the-art technology and materials from the BBC and Imperial War Museum, filmmaker Peter Jackson allows the story of World War I to be told by the men who were there. Life on the front is explored through the voices of the soldiers, who discuss their feelings about the conflict, the food they ate, the friends they made and their dreams of the future.”
This special event is not to be missed.
