NEW TRIPS

New trips for Kendal on Hudson residents keep being added to the list by the very active Trips Committee. For instance...

On Wed. March 29 a journey to the Frick Collection in New York to see "Turner's Modern and Ancient Ports: Passages through Time" is planned.

There is still space available or a short wait-list for the following trips:

Wed. March 22 - NY Botanical Gardens

Wed. April 5 - Tour of Irvington with Jean MacIntosh

More information on these excursions in the March 6 Spotlight

Trips

Jan Myers and her Trips Committee are always finding newer and nicer places for us to visit. What a great service!

On Wednesday, April 5, there will be a tour of Irvington with Jean MacIntosh. Jean will give you an insider's tour of the historic district, other famous buildings and include the Irvington Presbyterian Church with its Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass windows. This trip is particularly recommended for new residents.

However, you may still be able to be included  on the March 8 trip to the Hudson River Museum; and the Wednesday, March 22 excursion to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

Sign up in the usual place opposite the Computer Room.

See the February 27 Spotlight for further details.

Library News

Sociology Collection – This collection, which is located on the 4th floor of Robert Fulton (east side elevator lobby), has recently been reorganized and labeled. For more information contact Caroline Persell (chp1@nyu.edu).

The Kendal Library is trying its best to rearrange itself so residents will be able to more easily find what they're looking for, especially for books authored by fellow residents. These books are referred to as Kendal Author (KA) books. Providing more Library book space is another goal.

Suzanne Adel and Topsy Preuss, Library Co-Chairs inform us that:

KA Books are now opposite the Library Desk Computer.

Sale Books are now to the right of the KAs.

DVDs are to the right of the Sale Books.

LP (Large Print) Books are to the left as one enters the Library.

Who did all the work? Suzanne and Topsy say it was the Library Elves.

Fiber Arts Group Will Host a Special Guest Feb. 24

At its next meeting Friday, February 24, the Fiber Arts Group will host a special guest, Catherine Hannon, who is a Librarian for Historic Hudson Valley. She also is an "historic knitter" and creates fantastic creatures, all by knitting.

She will share her knowledge and talents with the group from 2-4 pm in the Craft Room.  Interested residents are welcome to attend.
