New Trip Announced

Westchester recycling.jpg

The Trips Committee announced a new excursion for Wednesday, Oct. 30, to the Material Recovery Facility in Yonkers.

This will be a free tour of the Westchester County government’s major recycling center. It includes an observation tower to view machinery that separates, sorts and prepares material to be sold, and the tipping floor where truckloads of recyclables are dropped off.

Participants will see a presentation and video on the benefits of recycling, and the Recycled Materials Art Gallery.

The MRF is closed to the public except for prescheduled group tours. This trip is jointly sponsored by the Trips and Recycling Committees.

This is a great opportunity to see how all the material we recycle is being handled.

"New Eyes for the Needy" Celebration

New Eyes2.png

In less than two years, the “New Eyes for the Needy” campaign, amazingly, has collected and donated more than 1,400 pairs of eye glasses. Wow!

These donations give the gift of clearer vision and change the lives of children and adults in need of glasses who cannot afford them.

Soon we will reach an unbelievable 1,500 donated items. Amelia Augustus, chair of the campaign, announced that we will celebrate this landmark achievement with a wine and cheese reception.

The date will be announced as soon as we reach our goal of 1,500 donations. Please label your donations with your name so we can identify the donor of the 1,500th pair of glasses at our forthcoming celebration.

Congrats Kendal. Special congrats to Amelia!
