Census 2020

Census 2020.png

You are receiving, or will shortly receive, a letter from the Census Bureau. It asks you to go online and answer a few questions, and complete this by April 1.

If the Bureau does not receive your answers online, it will send you a paper questionnaire in a few weeks. It is vitally important that we all respond because the number of congressional representatives we will be allocated, and the money New York State gets from the federal government depend on how many of us are counted as living in New York State.

So please, fill out your questionnaire as soon as possible before April 1. You don’t use a computer? Call Annette Leyden . We have a group of people who will help you and will answer your questions.

The Kendal Library is Open

Library open.png

With the coronavirus out there, we at Kendal have little choice but to hunker down and stay at home. This makes reading more important than ever. We want you to know that as long as it is safe, the library will continue to be available 24/7, staffed with volunteers at the regular hours.

Westchester County has discontinued its inter-library loan program until further notice, but Warner will still lend its own books to Kendal residents as long as our drivers can go and pick them up. Thank them when you get a chance.

Our very active Library Committee hopes to see you at the library! Drop by, say hello and find something interesting to read.

Pamela Klapproth.png

TO: Kendal Residents and Staff:

I want to share with you the minutes from Wednesday evening's special Board meeting: the Kendal on Hudson Board in its called meeting of March 4, 2020 received the final process report from the Search Committee. Board members heard and discussed the Committee’s consensus to recommend Pamela Klapproth to the position of CEO/ED of Kendal on Hudson.

The recommendation came with full confidence that Pamela possesses all the requisite background experiences and skills, with recognition that she stood out for the depth and breadth of her professionalism and authenticity in leadership, and with anticipation that she will be an excellent fit with the Kendal community-- its values, its culture, and its future. A period of questions and answers followed at the conclusion of which the Board approved the Search Committee’s recommendation, thanked those who were involved in the search, and asked Howard Smith to proceed with the necessary next steps including notification of the full community at the appropriate time. Pamela’s background and experience, which include strategic planning, have clearly positioned her to be an excellent fit with regard to the operational aspects of the CEO role. Regarding the values and relationship building skill components, the term “servant leader” came up in a number of references. She is known for her collaborative style and for being a good listener. Her depth of character and the sense of mission that led her to this work sustain her every day as she devotes a great deal of positive energy and many long hours in service to her community. Pamela enthusiastically accepted our offer of employment as our next CEO and we anticipate a starting date of April 1.

We will move forward with rolling out all of the necessary communications and developing a transition and on-boarding plan.

Howard Smith, Board Chair
