The Kendal on Hudson Oral History Project and Marketing Video is ready for viewing.
The hour-long program scheduled for April 10 was canceled because of COVID.
We were going to tell you that the video was created as an offshoot of the Archives and Oral History Project for use as a marketing tool for potential residents. We were going to tell you about Sound & Story, the non-profit organization devoted to building community memory, which conducted the oral history interviews and extracted the most heartfelt and enticing bits to create a video worthy of KoH ( www.soundandstory.org ).
The project took the better part of 2021 and now comprises more than 200 gigabytes of text and video, housed at multiple sites to keep it secure. We hoped to convey the value of this material to KoH residents, to scholars studying the evolution of senior living, to local historical societies, and as a rich source for a hoped-for written history of Kendal on Hudson.
Now the video is up on YouTube via the Kendal on Hudson website. To view the 10-minute video, go to Kendal’s home page by clicking here and scroll down to click on the blue Watch Video button.
With sincere thanks to all who participated in this project! Fran Kelly, Edward Kasinec, and Gretchen Engler, KOH Archives and Oral History Project members.
