Kendal Residents Involved in the Sleepy Hollow Mural Project
The Sleepy Hollow Hudson River “mural design organizes imagery into four elements - Air, Earth, Water, Humanity - to create a continuous composition that stretches the entire 520 foot wall. The wisps of wishes are blown from the north and float toward the south, carrying along a diversity of hopes and dreams expressed by the community. The concept is to celebrate our strength, bring the community together and create momentum to move toward a better future for everyone” (from the Brochure).
Kendal Residents made important contributions to the Mural project. Lynn Brady was on the planning committee, suggested several original artworks, and publicized the project around Kendal encouraging residents to submit ideas. She is continuing to plan events to go with the wall. Jane Hart painted a panel, “Fragility of Humpty Dumpty” and Anne White has a poem on the wall.

She hit the ground running, with very little fanfare (maybe none) because residents were “sheltering in place” in their apartments and some staff were working at home. We welcome her as warmly as possible remotely and look forward to the day when we can greet her in person.
