New Trip - New York Historical Society

The Trips Committee has announced a new trip, this one scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, to the New York Historical Society, New York.

Participants will be treated to “Hudson Rising: An Environmental Odyssey,” an exploration of 200 years of ecological change and environmental activism along the Hudson River through artifacts, media and Hudson River School paintings plus ways to restore and re-engineer the river as a result of climate change.

Also showing will be exhibitions of “Stonewall 50,” the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and gay liberation movement; Cole Porter’s 1907 piano on loan from the Waldorf-Astoria; “Augusta Savage: Renaissance Woman (1892-1962),” a celebration of African-American culture by a woman who overcame poverty and discrimination to become an influential 20th-century artist; an historic Bible collection; Audubon birds; and Tiffany lamps.
