A Reading of Shakespeare's Sonnets

Shakespeare’s Sonnets have fascinated the world with their beauty and mystery ever since they were published in 1609.

On Sunday, September 8, the Resident Acting Company will present an afternoon of Shakespeare’s sonnets in our Gathering Room at 3:00 p The RAC consists of actors who banded together following the 2017 closure of the Pearl Theater after 33 seasons.

The cast, featuring Rachel Botchan, Dominic Cuskern, Robin Leslie Brown, and Bradford Cover, will read selected sonnets that express the thoughts of a person in a crisis. These crises are often about love, sometimes about betrayal, time, or death, but always deeply felt. These poems exist in the extremes. The kind of deep feelings we all have in private but don’t know how, and probably don’t wish, to express to one another.

A post-show discussion will be led by Kate Farrington, Shakespeare expert, who recently taught the very popular course “Shakespeare’s Comedies: Travels through Time.”

The afternoon will conclude with a reception in the Private Dining Room.
