Kendal’s Saturday Opera program will continue on July 9 with Benjamin Britten’s searing opera Billy Budd in the acclaimed Metropolitan Opera production by John Dexter.
Dwayne Croft sings the tragic title role; James Morris is the master-at-arms, Mr. Claggart; and Philip Langridge portrays Captain Vere.
The Met Orchestra and Chorus are conducted by Steuart Bedford, Britten’s close collaborator in the latter’s last years. The performance will be held in the Gathering Room at 1:00 pm.
