TRIP TIPS: BOARDING AND ON THE VAN

* Be in the front lobby of Mary Powell about 10 minutes before departure time. Residents with walkers, wheelchairs or scooters should allow extra time.

* The van pulls out at the time announced for departure, so all participants should be on board before then. If you’re late, you may be left behind.

* The first two seats nearest the van door are reserved for the trip leader and whomever she asks to sit with her.

* Listen for instructions by the trip leader. Do not disembark at the destination without knowing the departure time and meeting place.

* Because the van often parks at some distance from the destination, don’t leave anything aboard that you may need during the trip like sweaters or umbrellas. Anything left on the van is SAFE.

Sign-up for all trips is in the Trips Book located in the Activities Alcove.

Kendal will have a new art show on the Rue Des Artistes starting on April 21 and running until October 16. The theme is “AWAKENING.”

The curators ask for submissions of artwork by residents and staff not previously shown on the Rue des Artistes: paintings, collage, photographs, assemblages, wearable art, fiber art, and whatever else can hang on the wall or fit in a case. The purpose of this early notice is to give people time to make new artwork.

New Children’s Corner in the Kendal Library

Children's Library.jpg

Children’ Corner – The alcove catering to your grandchildren and great-grandchildren has been reorganized.

Books for older readers are now on shelves, while picture books and easy readers remain on the carousel.  There are also puzzles and games. A special shelf is dedicated to children’s books by Kendal Authors. We hope you will all make use of this resource.

This is a great place for family kids when they visit Kendal. In addition, it could be important for any Kendal resident who is going through a second childhood.

Getting to Know You

The next “Getting To Know You” program, featuring Kendal resident Eugenie Cowan Havemeyer, will be Saturday, February 15 at 2:15 pm in the Gathering Room.

Last year Eugenie retired as owner and president of Bellerophon Publications which focused on architecture and design, primarily publishing Metropolis magazine for 35 years.

You can find out about her long career. It’s pretty interesting stuff.
