The Bells are Back

The Bells are Back!

The first session of the Kendal Bell Ringers is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13, at 11 am in the Gathering Room.

Our group uses English hand bells; each ringer handles two bells (only two notes), but together they make lovely music.

We are eager to have new ringers. It’s fun and easy to learn. All are invited to join.

Sleepy Hollow Cultural Festival

Cultural Fest.jpg

The Transportation Advisory Committee is pleased to announce Kendal (Saturday) Van Service to Kingsland Point Park on October 2 for the Sleepy Hollow Cultural Festival, which was cancelled last year due to COVID.

This wonderful event celebrates the many cultures represented in our Village. There will be live music and dance performances, culinary offerings, a community art exhibit, and tables hosted by local nonprofits and small businesses.

The Wishing Wall is just a short walk to the south, and the historic 1883 lighthouse will be open to visitors from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for the first time in 18 months.

Sign up beginning Monday, September 27 at the front desk. There will be 12 spaces available for each van trip (3 round trips planned), with waiting lists if your preferred time is full. Look for a special Cultural Festival notebook with sign-up sheets and festival information, including schedules and vendors.

Local Elections November 2

Local elections matter.jpg

It can be argued that local government has more impact on our daily lives than what happens nationally or internationally. On November 2, we will have an opportunity to decide who our local leaders will be in Westchester County and the Town of Mount Pleasant.

Do you want to submit an absentee ballot? We have been informed by the Board of Elections that, due to the COVID pandemic, everyone is eligible for an absentee ballot. Even if you previously marked your ballot request "permanent,” it isn't certain that you are permanently enrolled for an absentee ballot. To be safe, residents should call the Board of Elections at 914-995-5700 and ask if you will get an absentee ballot automatically.

They are always polite and cooperative. If you are NOT registered for an absentee ballot and want one, you must fill out a request for one by October 26. There are a stack of request forms near the cubbies. Each voter should fill one out and mail it in or do it on line at https://absenteeballot.elections.ny.gov/
