Here's a sample of what CAFA does, showcasing some of the art of Kendal residents:

The CAFA Committee's mission is to help provide as welcoming, attractive, interesting and comfortable surroundings as possible in our many shared-use spaces.  To this end, we place resident-donated or loaned pictures, furniture and decorative accessories, as well as art bought with funds from the Residents Association, in lobbies, corridors and functional rooms throughout the four buildings.

Completion of Project Renew, with the return of almost 400 pieces of art from storage, has brought an exciting challenge for us.  Major changes in our common spaces -- the creation of Sunnyside and a large Residents Lounge, expansion of Adirondack, reconfiguring of Mary Powell's C-level and much more -- along with new color schemes and furnishings -- has required completely rethinking the placement of our available art.  One example of this that has elicited much positive comment is Ann Holloway's abstract oil, "Grand Canyon Sunrise,” that she has loaned and is now a focal interest of the main lobby.

Owing to some constraints of shelf space, the Library Committee asked if CAFA could find a spot "somewhere near the Rue des Artistes" for its art book collection.  A good solution was found just beyond the C-level bridge to Clermont now furnished with shelves from the old library, a table and armchairs.

Early each year, CAFA issues a memo to all residents that includes information about donating suitable art and furniture for our common areas.  Over time, the acquisition of tables, chairs, pianos, clocks, cabinets, chests, wall units and especially art has added greatly to the warmth and individuality of Kendal on Hudson.  More than just a "nice extra," we believe it's really important for the well-being and happiness of all of us who live here.
