Dining Advisory Committee

Though this committee has been in existence since Kendal’s earliest days, it was just recently, in the summer of 2015 that it was reorganized to better focus on its mission: To provide a channel for communications between residents and dining management.   The core committee will work with dining management and staff, led by Gower Lane, to develop strategies for optimum resident dining satisfaction and provide specific and constructive suggestions regarding residents’ food and food service needs and preferences.

To that end, the core group will meet bimonthly with dining management.  Other interested residents will have the opportunity to participate through quarterly open meetings open to all residents, dates and times of which will be posted in Spotlight and on the Bulletin Boards.  In addition, the “COMMENT BOX” in the Bistro awaits residents’ input, both comments and menu suggestions.  In fact, the committee has and will occasionally again drop Dining comment cards in the cubbies for residents’ convenience. Senior members of the Dining Staff read the comments which then get passed along to the committee.

Other dining features are: Theme Dinners such as “Lobster Night,” “Oktoberfest,” and special holiday menus.  In addition, the committee expects to continue its popular “Afternoon Tea” several times a year, featuring particularly the work of our pastry chef.  It has been best described as “A genuinely delicious, calming experience!”
