Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease are problems that increasingly affect many older people and their families. Kendal on Hudson has answered this need by establishing Sunnyside, our memory support unit.
To help in understanding the problems caused by this variety of illness and how to deal with them, Teepa Snow, a noted occupational therapist and clinician has developed a first-rate DVD series "Accepting the Challenge" dealing with the care of people suffering from dementia.
Karen Harvatin, our Health Services Administrator, has arranged for a showing on Mondays Oct. 17, 24, 31 & Nov. 7 @ 3:00 PM in the Private Dining Room.
The topics will be (1) What is Dementia?, (2) Communicating -- Talking, (3) How you respond to the person, (4) Progression of the disease - Levels of Cognitive Loss.
