Kendal on Hudson is very sensitive to and aware of the need to recycle as much of our paper and plastic as possible, as well as glass and metal.
Deb Wood, the chair of our Recycling Committee, recently advised us that it is becoming more difficult to have our recycled material placed because of the refusal of the Chinese to accept our paper, cardboard and other materials. In addition, the landfills, especially in the Western states, are filling up.
The Recycling Committee is trying to find out which of our items are no longer acceptable for recycling.
Deb once again advised residents how to "package" material for recycling and pointed out the fact that our staff takes responsibility for collecting and exporting our recycling.
