A new trip is planned for Wednesday, March 11, to the Frick Collection, New York.
Participants can see “Henry Arnhold’s Meissen Palace” in the Portico Gallery, an exhibition of works made in the famed Meissen porcelain factory in Saxony, now a German state, from the late collector, with the pieces grouped by color as in the 18th century, along with Asian examples that inspired the wares. Many pieces formerly belonged to Augustus II, Elector of Saxony and foremost patron of Meissen.
The permanent collection, in the former Fifth Avenue residence of Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919), has many Old Master paintings by well-known artists including Rembrandt and Vermeer, European sculpture and decorative arts.
In addition there is a short wait list for the Wednesday February 19 trip to the Asia Society, New York and the Wednesday, March 4 excursion to the Neuberger Museum of Art, SUNY Purchase.
Sign-up for all trips is in the Trips Book located in the Activities Alcove.
