One of Kendal’s most well-attended activities are the Thursday morning Contemporary Issues Discussion Group meetings. Residents cram themselves into the Private Dining Room to kick around such topics as “Denial”, “Is Democracy Dying?”, and “American Nationalism”.
The imposition of the coronavirus rules about togetherness brought the program to a halt. The intelligence and articulateness of the Kendal discussants moved Issues Convener Gene DuBow to think about trying to break the group into smaller units and have a Mini Discussion Group program whereby groups of five could meet together. That has subsequently had to be cancelled. Gene is working on trying to conduct the program using Zoom.
Several days prior to the meetings, each participant will be given some appropriate reading material. The next topic will be “Isolation”.
The program is open to all residents who which to join in. However, a contact with Gene is necessary.
