Here’s some news about our Terrace Gardens.
Hopefully, you have admired the varied and colorful gardens in the Terrace planters. These planters are assigned to residents who have asked to tend them and who love gardening. Please respect their hard work and do not help yourself to the flowers and vegetables you find there. The Terrace gardeners invite you to enjoy by looking, BUT request that you do not pick EXCEPT from the Herb Garden, which is ready for harvesting. Mint, lavender, parsley, sage, oregano, thyme (two kinds), chives, garlic tops, and basil are ready for snipping/pruning and indulging, be it merely the scent of lavender or enhancing your meal.
The Residents’ Herb Garden is marked by “Herb Garden” sign, along with the dragonfly. Also, the three-tier small garden at the north end against the Fulton wall is an addition to the Residents’ Herb Garden. It is planted with lavender, basil and parsley.
In harvesting the herbs, please use scissors or garden cutters. If you’d like guidance about the best way to prune, don’t hesitate to contact Maria Harris, Janet Schloat, or Mary Alice Walker.
