Who DUNNIT?

Dining10.png

Bob and Ruth have done it. Deena has done it. Bix and Bill have done it. Lin and Peter have done it.

What have these IL residents done?

They have eaten in the Clearwater Private Dining Room on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm with Clearwater residents who have chosen to join them. You can join the Clearwater residents for Wednesday night “Clearwater Dinner Club” dinner, too!

Those whom you may encounter in the Clearwater Private Dining Room on Wednesday nights with the “Clearwater Dinner Club” include Kendal residents who live in Clearwater full time; Kendal residents who, following surgery or an illness, have entered Clearwater for rehabilitation; and “outside” patients who have, following surgery or an illness, entered Clearwater for rehabilitation.

Meals served in both the main Clearwater Dining Room and in the Clearwater Private Dining Room are the same as those served on those days in the Formal Dining Room and in the Bistro.

For further information, and to sign up to join us at the “Clearwater Dinner Club”, please contact Linda or Peter Bermas.

Hearing Loop Available

Resident Arthur Brady advises that if you use a hearing aid, you might be helped by the hearing loop installed in the KoH Gathering Room.

A hearing loop (sometimes called an audio induction loop) is a special type of sound system for people with hearing aids. It requires a telecoil, also referred to as a "t-switch" or "t-coil", to be inserted inside your hearing aids. In fact, such a coil may already be part of your hearing aids.

The coil picks up signals from the loop system. Hearing aids with an activated telecoil can convert this electromagnetic field into sound. Residents who are not sure how to make their hearing aids receive signals from the loop should consult with their audiologist.

Kendal Chorus Resumes Jan. 24

chorus2.png

The Kendal on Hudson Chorus will begin its Spring Rehearsals on Thursday, January 24 in the Gathering Room from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.

Whether you are a Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass, you are invited to try us out at the first two rehearsals before deciding whether to become a regular member, singing with us in the Spring.

Rehearsals are every Thursday at 1:30 pm. We arrive a few minutes early as vocal warm ups begin promptly at 1:30. Expert sight reading is not required.

The chorus is funded by the KOH Residents Council. We do, however ask each each singer to contribute $10 each season for the purchase of music.

We have the best director in Westchester County— Catherine Campbell Nesbit— who seems to like us! We are fortunate that Catherine also accompanies us during rehearsals, and we do have a professional accompanist, Mark Mitchell, for dress rehearsals and concerts. He is currently working on "Kiss Me Kate," as a Broadway accompanist How fortunate we are to be close to NYC.

Fiber Arts Infant Hat Project

Baby hat.jpg

The Fiber Arts Group has undertaken to knit infant hats which we donate to the Open Door Medical Clinic for use in their Baby Boxes.

Marilyn Bottjer, Group Chair noted, “In the 1½ years we have been doing it we have given 140 hats. However, our number of knitters has fallen drastically, so when I delivered the batch in early December I felt it would be the last, but I was met with such enthusiasm by the Volunteer Director and other women in the office in Ossining that I felt we should try to keep going. So if you are or have been or would like to learn to be a knitter and would like to participate in this, please call. We can provide directions, yarn and needles. The Fiber Arts Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month in the Craft Room from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. We engage in all kinds of fiber art along with knitting, but you don’t have to attend the meetings to knit baby hats.”

What a great project. Get your fingers moving - Call Marilyn.
