Important Reminder

Quarterly taxes.png

Not everything we print on the Residents Website is fun or entertaining, so…

Please remember that the second installment of 2019 estimated income taxes (both Federal and State) are due on or before June 17, 2019.

We beseech you get it done on time. It’s embarrassing when the IRS or FBI agents show up at the Front Desk. Sign the check and know that you’re taking one for the team.

Both the Government and your co-residents thank you.

The hard-working Trips Committee under the more than able chairperson of Jan Myers announced a new trip.

On Wednesday, July 10, there will be a group visiting The Frick Collection, New York. They will explore this jewel of a museum and its new exhibition on “Tiepolo in Milan,” ceiling frescoes of a palazzo painted in 1730-31 and destroyed by World War II bombing.

These “lost frescoes” are recalled by five preparatory paintings and drawings and by black-and-white photos of the frescoes from 1897 to the late l930s.

Other exhibits feature “Elective Affinities,” contemporary ceramic sculptures of Edmund de Waal installed amid art masterpieces and furnishings in the galleries; “Whistler as a Printmaker,” 15 prints and a pastel; and French Faience.

Churchill in Westchester June 6

Churchill.jpg

June 6 marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the largest multinational invasion during World War II to defeat Nazi Germany. America's most prominent partner in this secret undertaking was Winston Churchill, the wartime Prime Minister of Great Britain.

In 1932, eight years before he emerged on the world stage, Winston Churchill delivered an historic lecture on "The World Crisis" at the newly opened Westchester County Center in White Plains during a two-month U.S. lecture tour.

On Monday evening, June 3, at 7:30 pm in the Gathering Room, author/historian Anthony Czarnecki returns to Kendal to reveal the fascinating story behind Churchill's appearance in Westchester County, what he said to an audience of 1,500 people, and how his remarks came to reshape postwar Europe.

Mr. Czarnecki is a long-time member of the International Churchill Society and serves on the Board of Trustees of the Westchester County Historical Society.
