Welcoming Committee
Co-Chairs: Jo-Ann Rappaport and Mary Lou Wells
Our purpose is to make the move to Kendal as easy as possible for new residents. This is how it happens:
A committee member contacts in-coming residents before they move-in and answers any questions they may have.
When the new residents arrive, they find a Newcomer’s Guide on their refrigerator, and are given an in-depth tour within a few days.
A photo is taken to accompany a short bio which is placed on a bulletin board, added to the Getting to Know You notebook in the Library, and added to the online Resident’s Digital Directory.
Then other members of the Welcoming Committee step in and take new residents to dinner, a tour of the community, or other fitting activity.
We ask the new arrivals to wear a Kendal name tag with a green dot for a month and appeal to the rest of the community to WELCOME anyone seen wearing that badge. And we urge EVERYONE to wear their badges the first week of every month to help our new friends get to know US…..and remind the rest of us of the names we may have forgotten.
Meet and Greet Cocktail Hour on Sept. 6, 2019.
We will be able to do these again after the COVID restrictions are removed.
