The day before Thanksgiving, we were sitting in the Bistro, minding our own business, munching and reading. We heard distant singing. Oh, someone must have a birthday. We heard distant cheering and laughing — and it was getting closer. And closer. And then around the corner from the FDR came . . . wait for it . . .

Complete with balloons, Fred Coppola, Jean Ecleston, and a host of others — including Santa. It was fun. It was silly. It was crazy. It came out of nowhere. And by the time it was through the Bistro, people were on their feet applauding. If you missed it, we’re so very sorry — and hope it will become a tradition from here on out.
