EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee was formed by and for Kendal on Hudson residents prior to Kendal’s 2005 opening.

The committee’s mission is to provide opportunities for intellectual stimulation, principally through the Monday Night Lecture Series, short-term courses and seminars offered on site, and various reading and discussion groups.

Residents, their families, friends and connections provide a relatively large resource pool for lecturers and course leaders.

In the winter of 2015, the KoH Great Decisions Program was inaugurated, based on the Great Decisions briefing book published by the Foreign Policy Association and facilitated by residents. Each fall, a Domestic Issues Program is held, also facilitated by resident discussion leaders.

In 2019, under the aegis of the Education Committee, Pace University and Kendal established a partnership which allows Kendal residents to audit one class per semester at the Pace Pleasantville campus.

Bill flew 63 combat missions over Europe in his P-51 Mustang fighter plane during WW II, protecting B-17 and B-24 bombers over Germany, and his Veteran's Day lecture on the air war over Europe in 1944-45 was very well received.
